As often as I smack the Tampa Bay Times with a wooden plank, I have to admit not many news organizations can beat Florida's largest-circulation newspaper for doing what all of us in the media should do -- pluck the humbugs out of candidates' resumes and report them.

A pair of senators want to turn the family SUV into a mini bullet train. At least, that's how legislation proposed by Jeff Brandes of St. Petersburg and Jeff Clemens of Lake Worth feels -- even if they only want to step up the highway speed limits 5 more miles per hour.

The Tampa Bay area has emerged as a hotbed for Muslim and anti-Muslim activity. The local director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations says he's trying to cool things down.
