There's a growing realization on the Space Coast that the future of the area's economy and the future of space exploration are going to rely heavily on commercial space companies.
Buttressing Floridians' complaints about Washington's response to the giant BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a federal commission blasted the Obama administration for initially underestimating the scope of the disaster, and then overreacting politically.
Oil that dispersed in the Gulf of Mexico is still out there, coating deep-water spawning grounds and potentially resurfacing on Panhandle beaches, University of South Florida researchers say.
