Freshman U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent announced on Thursday that he was backing fellow Florida Republican Karen Harrington, a businesswoman who is running for the GOP nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.
"It gives me great pleasure to lend my full support to Karen Harrington in her effort to bring conservative principles to Washington,” Nugent said on Thursday. “Karen's small-business experience along with her pledge to lower taxes and fight the out-of-control spending in Congress makes her the clear choice to help fix Washington. I look forward to working with Karen and together, we can put America back on track."
"I am honored that Congressman Nugent has stepped forward and endorsed our campaign that is based on the lowering of taxes, shrinking the size of government, and fighting out-of-control spending in Washington, D.C.,” said Harrington, who was the Republican nominee against Wasserman Schultz in 2010.
