Giant slide at the Florida State Fair.

It’s time for the Florida State Fair, which means having the state Cabinet head out to Tampa to ride the Giant Slide.

Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater upheld the tradition on Thursday as part of the kickoff for the fair, taking in the plunge with Florida 4-H, FFA members and a pirate.

The Cabinet and Gov. Rick Scott -- who again did not go on the slide -- also held a light meeting, introduced the Visit Florida's new spring ad campaign and did the ceremonial ribbon cutting and flipping of the switch for the fair.
