Opposing Amendment 2, Jeb Bush Can Play a Major Role in Defeating It

Jeb Bush

Jeb Bush is hoping his stature with Florida Republicans can move the needle on Amendment 2 and help defeat that medical marijuana initiative.

Even with conservative distaste over Bush’s support of Common Core and immigration reform, including going out of his way to trash Arizona’s immigration law, the former governor remains pretty popular with Florida Republicans. Polls show Bush coming closer against Hillary Clinton in Florida than any other potential Republican presidential candidate.

Amendment 2's foes hope Bush’s stature can help turn things around. Polls show Floridians overwhelmingly back medical marijuana but, the more they know about the details of Amendment 2, the less enthusiastic they get about it.

There’s also a partisan element that needs to be considered. Republicans are generally less supportive of Amendment 2 than Democrats or independents. They also are more likely to come out in off-year elections than other voters. Opponents of Amendment 2 hope Bush’s stature with Florida Republicans can help turn things around, getting them to the 40 percent they need to defeat the proposal.

By announcing his opposition to Amendment 2, Bush also moves the conversation away from Common Core. Bush will be campaigning with Rick Scott in Homestead on Friday. The two Republicans aren’t exactly on the same page when it comes to immigration and Common Core, with Bush hanging out on Scott’s left flank on those issues. But Bush’s announcement will take focus away from those issues while giving Scott a chance to showcase his support of the “Charlotte’s Web” bill he signed into law and offer his take on Amendment 2. Scott needs a united Republican base against Charlie Crist in November and conservatives are nowhere near as engaged on medical marijuana as they are on immigration and Common Core.

Bush was also savvy enough to couch his opposition to Amendment 2 in conservative terms.

“Florida leaders and citizens have worked for years to make the Sunshine State a world-class location to start or run a business, a family-friendly destination for tourism and a desirable place to raise a family or retire,” Bush said on Thursday. “Allowing large-scale, marijuana operations to take root across Florida, under the guise of using it for medicinal purposes, runs counter to all of these efforts.  I believe it is the right of states to decide this issue, and I strongly urge Floridians to vote against Amendment 2 this November.”

Bush waved the states’ rights banner and claims Amendment 2 would hurt tourism, families and businesses. Not bad cards to play with conservatives, especially as businesses are creating more jobs in Florida, helped in part by record-breaking tourism. Bush was smart enough to not attack medical marijuana, only Amendment 2.

Polls show Floridians back medical marijuana but opponents of Amendment 2 will have their opportunities to cast doubts about the proposal. Bush can help turn things around on Amendment 2 if he takes a high-profile role against it, perhaps reaching across party lines to work with the likes of Debbie Wasserman Schultz in ads stressing it’s not a partisan issue. Regardless of what he does, Bush is a good get for Amendment 2 foes and can only help their chances of defeating the proposal.

Jeb has shown himself to be a prohibitionist, they will say anything and are protecting an unconstitutional law, we the people of Florida can see right thru this and the lies from the prohibitionists, we will vote for compassion for patients, not for the fantasies of the people protecting their incomes and the right to make criminals of us citizens who are basically non-violent.

Jeb Bush must be smoking crack if he thinks he can score political points pandering to the 12% of Floridians that are opposed to Amendment 2.

Amen to that! What part of "We The People" do Republicans not understand? Oh, yeah, they're beholden to the moneyed interests: the "law" enforcement and prison industry, the drug companies, which of course in their eyes are "people", too, and the financial industry.

March 2007 - Jeb Bush reclaims the reigns of Tenet Healthcare picking up the pieces of the mergers and acquisitions made since he and Miguel Recarey, Jr. honed the first major Medicare Fraud scheme with their INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTERS.

A senior member of the Bush dynasty is about to get a large sum of money from a company with a history of ethical violations. .....

Jeb Bush, is up for election (anointment) as a director of troubled hospital chain Tenet Healthcare (THC) . Assuming he's waved through, his pay in his first year would come to nearly $37,000 a day. This is the same Tenet that had to pay $900 million to Uncle Sam last summer to settle charges that it had overbilled Medicare and Medicaid over many years.

The U.S. attorneys announcing the settlement accused the company of "fraud" and trying to "manipulate and cheat the system.". It's also the same Tenet that just paid $80 million to the IRS after an audit found it owed back taxes going back as far as 1995. The company recently had to restate nearly five years of earnings statements after an investigation into its books.

Tenet's recent public filings read like a police blotter. One of its clinics in South Carolina performed 436 open heart operations without certification. The company is being sued in California by staff claiming they were systematically short-changed on pay and overtime, in breach of the state's labor code. Three former Tenet staff members, at a New Orleans hospital it owned, are under investigation for allegedly euthanizing four patients following Hurricane Katrina.

The company hadn't returned phone calls seeking a comment by press time; neither had the former governor's representatives. ..... This will be Jeb Bush's first job since leaving the governor's office in Tallahassee.

It's lucky the media aren't paying too much attention. Anyone reading the public filings would have discovered that in your first year, you'll earn $474,500 -- for 13 days' work. That's $36,500 a day. And the "work" consists of sitting in a board room, so it's not exactly heavy lifting. The reason the media is not paying attention is because Richard Rainwater’s Disney CEO appointee Michael Eisner controls the media. They already got ABC off Jeb over the calls he made for Recarey back in the 1980’s.

Not bad for a guy who could manage only a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas. Many of Tenet's 65,000 personnel are qualified medical staff with years of experience. Yet according to public filings, their average salary and benefits last year came to around $69,000 for full-time work.

I'm sure your family lawyer [Richard (Rick) Lynn Scott] has already explained the details, Jeb, but just to recap the terms: As a nonemployee director you'll get an immediate golden handshake of $260,000 in "restricted stock units." Nothing says "welcome aboard" quite like a quarter-million. Plus you'll get another $130,000 in restricted stock units each year. That's on top of your retainer of $65,000 a year.

And all that is before you turn up for a single board meeting. For each one you attend, you get another $1,500. There's another $1,200 every time you show up at a committee meeting.
But, Jeb Bush finally arrived in the TENET Corporation documents in 2011-

The ownership when like this:

With financing help from Tampa-Miami mob boss Santo Trafficante, Jr. - Miguel Recarey, Jr. and Jeb Bush started INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CENTERS in the 1980’s. Jeb Bush enhanced the Medicare Cash flow with his Washington, DC ties.

By 1987 even with Jeb’s involvement the feds was after Recarey for Medicare Fraud and other crimes and he fled the country.

By October 1988 Jeb and brother George W. assembled their Texas lawyer Rick Scott and investor kingmaker Richard Rainwater team who had over taken Disney and anointed Michael Eisner in 1984 to put together a team to pick up the pieces of IMC and the in place Medicare Fraud machine. By 1988 state regulators had already given some of the IMC assets to Humana who titled them under Galen Hospital Corp. Scott and Rainwater picked up IMC assets under Galen Hospital Corp- Columbia Hospital Corporation of Miami and CHC- Miami Corp.

Columbia mergered with HCA – Proof of Bush family involvement in Columbia all along is the fact that one member from the Columbia side of the Columbia/ HCA corporate marriage: T. Michael Long, was a partner at investment banker Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. This is a Bush family owned company!
NOTE: In 1919, George Herbert Walker [Grandfather of George Herbert Walker Bush (41) organized W.A. Harriman & Co which merged with the British Brown Brothers in 1931. In 1924, Averell Harriman (Skull & Bones, 1913) and Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist began funding Hitler in 1923, set up the Union Banking Corp in New York to handle funds supplied to it through Thyssen's Dutch bank for American investment. Prescott Bush [father of Bush (41)], an officer of the W.A. Harriman bank since 1926, was a director of the Union Banking Corp from 1934 through 1943.

Let’s recap the hospital schemes. In the 1980’s Miguel Recarey, Jr. with the financial support of Tampa-Miami Mafia Mob Boss Santo Trafficante, Jr. started International Medical Centers in Miami. In 1985 Jeb Bush joined forces and made calls to all the right people in Washington DC thanks to his father being VP under Reagan at the time he got Medicare waivers and their Medicare gold mine was flowing. A disgruntled federal employee just doing their honest job caught them. Thanks to the Bush family power house Jeb was never charged, but his partner Miguel Recarey, Jr. was and had to flee the country. Jeb made arrangements for Recarey to get $2.2 million to escape on. Recarey was supposed to send Jeb’s daddy $30 thousand back to his 1988 campaign but screwed up the transfer. Meanwhile Jeb made arrangements for the assets of International Medical Centers not to escape his control. He contacted brother George’s Texas lawyer friend (Dallas - Johnson and Swanson firm) and Texas Ranger’s partner Richard (Rick) Lynn Scott who along with Richard Rainwater (another George W. Bush partner) and the same gang that over took Disney in 1984 and installed Michael Eisner as chairman - formed Columbia Hospital Corporation of Miami.

Some of the IMC assets were immediately available to Scott and Rainwater. But regulator’s had placed the bulk of the hospitals assets with Humana, Inc along with an accompanying $30 million dollars a month in Medicare payments. Humana being an insurance company rolled those hospitals into The Galen Hospital Corporation. On August 16, 1988 Rick Scott and Richard Rainwater became the owners of Galen Hospital Corporation. After that they just picked up whatever else Rick Scott could strong arm into submission.

From 1988 until July 21, 1997 Rick Scott and his gang nurtured the [filtered word] that laid the golden egg. They robbed and stole, over billed and pulled off every scheme they could imagine to bring in to federal dollars.

But, by July 21, 1997 another disgruntled federal investigation was on the horizon. Unlike Jeb’s last Medicare Fraud partner Miguel Recarey, this time Jeb’s adopted brother [per George HW Bush] Bill Clinton was in the white house. Things got a little rough for Rick Scott, but he was protected from criminal prosecution by his Bush gang partner’s and escaped in tact with millions of stolen Medicare Fraud dollars only to resurface in 2010 claiming to spend $70 million of those dollars to buy his way into the Florida’s Governor’s Office where he agreed to work for pennies per year. In fiscal year 2013 Rick Scott’s free work as governor netted his a $40 million increase in his personal wealth! Soon he will be recovered his $70 million investment (of our stolen tax dollars) and began receiving dividends on his investment of our money!

In 1997 Columbia/ HCA merged with Tenet Healthcare Corp without comment or even acknowledgement. Tenet, the industry's second-largest company, was roughly a quarter of Columbia's size. Its CEO, Jeffrey C. Barbakow, guided the company through its own scandal in 1993 when he forged a settlement of massive Medicare fraud charges for $380 million.

Gee, Jeb Bush and Rick Scott didn’t even have to train them how to rip off Medicare; they were already adept at the technique. In fact over the years they just got better and better at it.

May 9, 2007 - Tenet Healthcare Corp announces it is placing John Ellis (JEB) Bush on it’s board of directors- The truth is he is the only Director!

As of the 2014 corporate filing Jeb Bush is the only director; Paul A. Castanon is the secretary and Trevor Fetter is the president – they all have an address of 1445 Ross Ave Ste 1400 - Dallas, Tx 75202. So, it is fair to say that Jeb Bush controls the Tenet Healthcare Corp, lock, stock and barrel.

What we don’t know at this time his how much stock ownership each individual has.
What happened to Richard Rainwater and Rick Scott’s and others of the Bush friends and connections millions of shares of Columbia/ HCA when they merger it with Tenet Healthcare Corp? What we can see from the surface is that Jeb Bush recovered his original investment in International Medical Centers by running it first through Humana, then Galen, then Columbia/ HCA and finally recovering it at the Tenet Healthcare Corp.
Ever notice Rick Scott acts like he has never been close friends with George or Jeb Bush. He acts like those Chicago mobsters, you know the ones that claim they don’t know each other. Well guess what that’s exactly what they are, their Northern Trust you know the one that George W. Bush put all his assets in the blind trust with. He claims not to know who they are, but Barrack Obama know who they are they financed his Chicago home for him. And when George W. Bush filed his paper to run for president he used the same Chicago address as their Northern Trust.

It was little George W. who said you can fool some of the people all the time and those are the ones we needed to concentrate on! The rest of Florida and The USA has figured out this massive racketeering network they have concocted and as one of the previous bloggers stated we are sick and tired of it. We don’t want these organized criminal from the Bush and Clinton families along with all their minions “ruining” our government any longer!

Jeb Bush old news and for him to come back and hurt the very citizens that want and need medical marijuana will be the crushing force of his defeat. Bust hasn't a chance in the national elections and neither does Hillary the Clinton. Americans are tired of these two families in politics and want new faces and new ideas, not the same ole crap & lies. Hey Clinton, hows that hug fest with President Obama work out for you? The media left it in the dumpster where it belonged. You see were tired of the lies and childish games. Yes for the amendment # 2 this November and let's help our brothers and sisters by comforting them in their time of sickness.

I'm a conservative and I support amendment 2. If people were going to be detoured from visiting Florida because of medical marijuana, then explain the high tourism rates to Miami. Miami is well know as a drug port, most of which are far more damaging than marijuana ever could be. Besides that, amendment two will encourage more business to move here than detour it.

Yes, Floridians have the oppurtunity to vote Yes on 2. Jeb is a really poor choice as a face wagger for the anti-2 folks. Already his involvement in the Terri Shivo case has been brought up. He may well do more harm than good for and un-conservative cause, no matter how he words his case. Amendment 2 is conservative and every real conservative should support it. Please Vote YES on 2.
