Continuing his efforts to woo Hispanic voters away from President Barack Obama, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, unveiled his Hispanic Steering Committee on Wednesday which includes a number of prominent Florida Republicans -- including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush.

Romney announced the formation of “Juntos Con Romney” on Wednesday which will be chaired by former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, former Puerto Rico Attorney General Jose Fuentes, and Hector Barreto who had been in charge of the federal Small-Business Administration.

The inclusion of Gutierrez and Barreto -- both of whom have experience with directing the government’s role in the marketplace -- was clearly an effort from the Romney team to press their points that Hispanics have been hit hard in the Obama economy.

“The Hispanic community has been especially hard-hit by President Obama’s policies,” said Gutierrez on Wednesday. “Instead of spurring economic growth and creating jobs, President Obama has only expanded government and hurt job-creation. We need a leader who will bring back jobs, help small businesses, and ensure that the American Dream remains for future generations. Mitt Romney has a proven record of creating jobs both in the private sector and as governor. Together with Mitt Romney, we will be able to do what President Obama has failed to do: fix the economy, create jobs, and get our country on the right track again.”

Romney tapped Rubio and three governors -- Luis Fortuño of Puerto Rico, Susana Martinez of New Mexico and Brian Sandoval of Nevada -- to serve as co-chairmen of the new organization. Both Rubio and Martinez have garnered some buzz as possible running mates for Romney.

“President Obama inspired many Americans in 2008, but since then he has deliberately pitted Americans against each other, failing to live up to the promises of his 2008 campaign,” Rubio said on Wednesday. “He has failed to fix our economy, bring back jobs, lower gas prices, and stop runaway government spending. We are not better off than we were three and a half years ago when he took office. We need to take a new course. Mitt Romney will bring his economic experience from the private sector, and record of creating jobs and lowering spending as governor, to Washington and will be able to restore America’s promise.”

Romney also named a host of prominent Florida Republicans to the national advisory board for his Hispanic outreach, including Bush whose name is also in the mix to end up as the vice presidential candidate. Romney named two current Republican members of the Florida delegation -- U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart -- to the advisory board. Former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez and former U.S. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart were also added to the advisory board.

Two rising stars were also named to the group. Romney named Florida state Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami, who represents parts of Miami-Dade, to the advisory board as well as George P. Bush, Jeb Bush’s son, who has been active in trying to woo Hispanic voters for Republicans.

These GOP chasing Hispanic voters amuse the ever loving snake dookie out of me.
First, you have a completely MADE UP word-hispanic:"While success has many fathers and failure is an orphan, bureaucrat-ese, it turns out, sometimes has one proud author. During her long career in government, Grace Flores-Hughes spent some time working as an assistant in what was then called the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. It was there, in the early 1970s, that she helped establish “Hispanic” as the government’s word of choice for people of Spanish origin — a term that made it onto the official U.S. census form in 1980" You can find this article in the Hartford Guardian, April 27,2009.
Why not refer to the people as what they are- Spanish language speaking instead of this Orwellian creation. Using this word perpetuates the divisiveness and steady Balkanization of the country.
Secondly, if the GOP, now in control of the State government, taught responsible REAL history and civics, instead of bowing to endless decades of social engineering in the curriculum, you might not have an automatic socialist voter by the time Spanish speaking Americans reached voting age. Instead the GOP bows to Obama Ed, also known as Race To The Top, and forgoes this great opportunity for the feds 700 million in bribe money. RTTT by the way has curriculum requirements- and they do not originate in 1776 but in UNESCO.
All this to say that the two organized crime families known as the Democrats and Republicans use the press to play these stories up as if it really meant something. The end game is the same, the loss of liberty and the growth of the federal government; and the weakening of the several states to be their own masters as intended by the Ratifiers.
Lame story, but great fodder for the sheeple herd.

Ah - "the weakening of the several states to be their own masters as intended by the Ratifiers"

Seems like you lost that one - I believe it was called the Civil War.

You're a century and a half out of date - perhaps a little actual history might help.

Must be due to that obvious lack of education - we're so sorry, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

One more note - Hispanic - the term in English goes back to at least the 16th century. It is NOT a modern made-up term, although its definition and use have changed with time.

Why would Hispanics not vote Democrat? If I was Hispanic, I would not want America deporting me and stopping me from illegally being here, importing and distributing drugs, stopping our high rate of child bearing, welfare usage, bankrupting hospitals, ruining neighborhoods and land values, destroying school system standards... and lowering pay of blue collar jobs so that working Americans can't get a job.

For the Republicans to try to get the miscreants to vote for them, they have to become similar to the Democrats.

Our country is lost and civil war is coming unfortunately. It will be a race war and nothing will stop it once it starts. Your uniform will be your race.

Thank you socialist liberals for bringing this nightmare on for the future of our children.

So much for the melting pot idea.

And you would be an original inhabitant of these shores, correct - a native American. Thought not, just another racist.
