Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts is crushing the Republican field in New Hampshire, which holds its primary on Tuesday, according to two polls released Friday.

Romney is leading in New Hampshire, according to a Suffolk University/7News poll released on Friday, while former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, who was only eight votes behind Romney in Tuesday night’s Iowa caucus, continues to move up in the Granite State.

Romney takes 40 percent in the Suffolk poll with U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in second with 17 percent. Santorum has third with 11 percent in the poll, ahead of former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich with 9 percent and former Jon Huntsman of Utah, who has focused his campaign in New Hampshire, with 8 percent. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, who has turned to South Carolina after a fifth-place finish in Iowa, lags far behind with 1 percent.

“Rick Santorum is the only Republican candidate moving up in New Hampshire,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center which has been running daily tracking polls for the New Hampshire primary. “He has cleared the Gingrich and Huntsman hurdles for third place and is only 6 points away from second place. Watch out, Ron Paul.”

The poll of 500 likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters was taken on Jan. 4-5 and had a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.

Another poll released on Friday -- this time from Rasmussen Reports -- also has Romney far out in front of the pack in New Hampshire.

Romney leads the field, with 42 percent, followed by Paul with 18 percent, Santorum with 13 percent and Huntsman with 12 percent. Gingrich takes 8 percent and Perry pulls 1 percent.

The poll of 750 likely Republican primary voters was taken Jan. 5 and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

Why the words DUMB, STUPID and IDIOTIC will become relevant tonight should US people not vote Ron Paul to win Super Tuesday.

Americans still asleep WAKE UP its time to see the truth. Ron Paul is the only candidate with a proven record and track record of upholding the Constitution.

If you don't vote for him then you are DUMB, STUPID and IDIOTIC for thinking Romney, Santorum, Gingrich or Obama will change things for the better.

The Choice is simple Ron or nothing

Ron Paul is the only one who talks about real issues and real solutions, yet he's got less than double of Romney in the polls! BULLS**T. Someone is fudging these figures I'm sure of it.

Americans have seen there freedoms, likelihoods and futures completely destroyed in less than 10 years thanks to the policies of Bush and Obama.

They're sick and tired of these Draconian laws and military rule, yet when someone offers them a way back to prosperity and a better life they stick with someone who would only increase the debt, wars and pile the misery on them.

YEAH RIGHT...

Either someone is fudging these figures and misleading the people or Americans don't want there liberties back and are happy to keep living in the dark and collecting welfare from the state.

I guess when welfare and money is involved people will do anything to keep it, regardless of the consequences.

I guess people don't want freedom and the right to a better life, oh well 4 more years of war and debt I CAN'T F*****G WAIT.

Mittens the draft dodger. He was all for the war in Vietnam but could not attend. Seems like he was on a crusade over in France during that time. But let him get elected and will not mind one little bit when it comes to getting your daughter or son killed.

Seems like the end for Ron I'm afraid. Romney is picking up the draft dogers vote and Santorum the leftovers.

Considering these small sample sizes for the polls and not gauging the effect of the Independent vote, it would be difficult for this article to assure anything accurate.

They did not poll the Independents or cross over Democrats which is they had would have put Paul a mile out in front. But what did we get? We got a third which could not have happened according to the polls. Leave it to the Republican GOP they know how to steal an election.

Darn I am loosing it. They did not poll the Independents or the cross over Democrats in Iowa which would have put Paul out in front by a mile.

DO YOU REALIZE 'AUTHOR' THAT INDEPENDENTS CAN VOTE IN THE REPUB PRIMARY, AND THAT INDEPENDENTS WENT 43% FOR RON PAUL IN IOWA?

WHO ELSE IS GOING TO GIVE BLUE DEMS AND INDEPENDENTS A VOICE FOR NON-INTERVENTIONIST VS. WAR MONGERING?

WHAT WAS SANTORUM'S IND. VOTE COUNT? HOW ABOUT NEWT ROMNEY?

You are wrong! Ron Paul is moving up faster than the war mongering bigot Santorum who was booed off a stage yesterday.

Santorum is almost as big a joke as Romney is. Two losers.
