Florida Gov. Rick Scott will be on the main stage the opening night of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, appearing after a late afternoon recess as the four-night event heads into its first prime-time appearance.

Scott will join House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, and Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in speaking the first night of the GOP convention at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Based upon the release from the Republican National Committee, Scott should be delivering his remarks around 8 p.m.

The theme for the night will be “We Can Do Better.”

“Americans know we can do better than joblessness, poverty and debt,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus stated in a release. “This convention will present our vision for a brighter, better future and it will lay out an optimistic, achievable plan to make it happen.”

Let's wait and see what ends up in the Republican platform.

Drafts I've seen have proposed positions that will not sit well, or make sense, to most Americans.
