Shoaf Lashes Out, but Yoho, DeSantis Have Crenshaw's Back

Former Navy Capt. Ryman Shoaf went on the attack in the final days of his Republican primary challenge to U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., even as a former boss endorsed the incumbent congressman.

Crenshaw released a TV ad this week stressing his roots on the First Coast and playing up the fact that he heads home for the weekends.

The ad drew fire from the Shoaf campaign on Wednesday.

“Ander Crenshaw says 'I come home every weekend' in his latest TV ad,” the Shoaf team noted. “Congress is only in session 113 days in 2014. Where is Congressman Crenshaw the remaining 252 days of the year? Still in Washington, D.C. We need a representative who represents Northeast Florida and comes back to the district more than the weekends.”

The Shoaf campaign also attempted to contrast their candidate’s 27 years in the Navy to Crenshaw’s four decades in politics. After the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce endorsed Crenshaw this week, the Shoaf team noted it was part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and hit that group on immigration.

But Crenshaw got a boost of his own Thursday when two conservatives from neighboring districts -- U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla. -- endorsed him. Shoaf had briefly served on Yoho’s congressional staff in Clay County.

“I’ve spent the past 15 months investigating the IRS, and Americans have demanded that Congress do something to hold the IRS accountable for its misconduct,” DeSantis said. “Ander Crenshaw has answered the people’s call. Using his subcommittee chairmanship on the Appropriations Committee, Ander authored a bill to rein in the IRS, protect taxpayers and safeguard the Constitution. This is a critical bill that attracted widespread conservative support. I am proud of every day I serve with and stand with Ander Crenshaw”

Yoho stressed that Crenshaw was a fellow conservative.

“Ander Crenshaw is a conservative with a capital C,” Yoho said. “Even more, he’s a proven conservative who gets results for his Northeast Florida neighbors. He doesn’t chase headlines – he simply does the job he’s been elected to do. No one works harder, and no one’s done more, to advance our responsible agenda for America. Ander’s one of us – he fights for us!”

"I'm proud to stand together with Congressmen DeSantis and Yoho in a continued mission to protect the conservative values that individuals, families, and businesses hold dear,” Crenshaw said. “Across the board, Northeast Florida is well-served by both of them, and I look forward to working with them in the years ahead."

Funny how only pro comments are published here. I have posted my thoughts in support for Shoaf and the Mods keep taking them down. SunshineState should have better integrity than that. You are bias and unfair.

I'm not surprised to see so many endorse Crenshaw. Their pockets are padded just like his

Congressman Ander Crenshaw has run a very positive campaign stating his many conservative pieces of legislation which have benefited his whole district. congressman Crenshaw represents the whole district not just a select group. Congressman Crenshaw is a man of solid integrity ;his personal life and his political life are emblematic of such a statement

I've personally known Shoaf and his family for many years. Unfortunately, lately it seems like all he's doing is attacking Crenshaw rather than talking about what he'd do differently from him. I respect Shoaf and his service to our country, but we're better served by somebody who lives in our community and knows what issues affect our communities. Ander Crenshaw has represented our district well just like Tillie Fowler did so many years ago.

What about term limits? He has had his time in office. Let's get a new leader with A true conservative mission in Ryman Shoaf. He is not an established republican like Andrew Crenshaw. 4 decades in politics is enough. It's time to retire Andrew. Sad to see Yoho and DeSantis back Crenshaw. Ryman is the true conservative.

I am disappointed in DeSantis and Yoko for backing Crenshaw, but I guess that's just par for the course. Crenshaw is only rated at 44% by Heritage. That is definitely not being conservative with a capital C.

conservative with a capitol C until it is time to pass the Continuing Resolutions that keep big govt charging forward, when Mr Crenshaw stands right there beside Corrine Brown and the other incumbents.
Die hard big business Republican until it is time to appeal to the home district.
All for security except for a healthy federal budget and strong border protection. How has the status quo been working?

The ad implied to anyone with intelligence, that Crenshaw comes home on the weekends that Congress is in session. Obviously here, Crenshaw is AT HOME in Jacksonville, when Congress is not in session.

Harsh and unfair criticism coming from someone who DOES NOT EVEN LIVE IN THE DISTRICT. That's right, Shoaf does not even live in the district.

This was a stupid attack, even though I support Ander Crenshaw, I respected Shoaf . .. until he made this unjust, unfair, and just plain stupid criticism of Crenshaw. Where in the ^%#$#$ does Shoaf think Crenshaw is when Congress is not in session??!! at home of course!! Let me emphasize . .at his home In The District that he represents.

So, voting for the NDAA and the imprisonment of US citizens without due process of law is, "conservative with a capital C". I have to agree with Shoaf, how small is a lower case "c"?
Unbelievable! I'll give Shoaf's 27 years active duty a whole lot more credibility than Crenshaws 4 decades in politics.
